In the final game before region play gears up, the Lady Panthers fell in a heartbreaker to Westwood High School. Alisha McDaniel opened the scoring in the first half when she took a beautiful pass from Mady Quinn at the top of 18 yard box. Alisha took one touch and then sent a screaming shot over Westwood’s goalkeeper and into the side netting.
Unfortunately, a defensive break down allowed Westwood to steal a goal with less than two minutes remaining in the first half. The exciting second half was a back and forth affair with both teams trying to find a second goal. The Lady Panthers were able to find several shots, but were unable to put any on frame. With only six minutes remaining in the game, Westwood scored when a shot hit the inside of the post and spun backwards into the goal.
The Lady Panthers continue to grow, and although a 1-4 record isn’t ideal, the Lady Panthers have taken many positives away from a non region slate that included only 4A and 5A opponents. Come out and support the Lady Panthers as their home opener Tuesday against Strom Thurmond begins region play.
