The Lady Panthers rounded out region play with a 7 – 0 win over Edisto. Savanna Pennington opened the scoring in the first minute of the game when she converted a corner from Hannah Owens. About ten minutes later, Hannah Owens scored off an assist from Jazmine Young. The Lady Panthers found themselves with many more chances in the first half, but they couldn’t find the net again.
The second half, however, saw an offensive onslaught with the Lady Panthers scoring five goals. Hannah Owens opened the second half with her second goal of the game off an assist from Savanna Pennington. Not long after that, Reese Goodwin got on the board when she sent a ball past Edisto’s goalkeeper and into the side netting. Then, Mady Quinn scored from a beautiful set piece from about 25 yards out. Reese Goodwin then scored her second goal of the game off an assist from Isis Vásquez. Towards the end of the first half, Olivia Lang, who has been a stellar center back this year, was called up in the attack. It took her less than two minutes to find the back of the net for the Lady Panthers.
With the win, the Lady Panthers finish region play with an even 4-4 mark, which is good for 3rd place in the region. The 3rd place finish assures the Lady Panthers a spot in the playoffs after missing out last year. The Lady Panthers have one more out of region game before playoffs as they travel to Batesburg-Leesville on Wednesday for a 5:30pm kickoff.
