Your Lady Panthers won an exciting game in their first home game of the season. Hannah Owens opened up the scoring in the first half for the Lady Panthers, but Strom Thurmond stole a goal in the late stages of the first half.
To start the second half, Alisha McDaniel scored off a corner kick from Hannah Owens to put the Lady Panthers up 2-1. Strom Thurmond answered with 2 goals, and the scored remained 2-3 until the very late stages of the game. With only a few seconds left on the clock, Mady Quinn saved the day by scoring the tying goal.
The first period of overtime was a scoreless affair. With two and a half minutes remaining in the second period of overtime, Nat Campbell scored to give the Lady Panthers the win and a 1-0 start to region play.
Some credit for this win needs to be given to the amazing student section that showed out to support the Lady Panthers. They were loud the entire game and never gave up on our girls, even when we were down a goal. It helped propel us to tie the game in the waning minutes of the second half, and it continued to carry us through both overtime periods.
