Women's Varsity Soccer · Chavarria Named Head Soccer Coach


Athletic Director Dann Holland is pleased to announce that Andrew Chavarria will become the next head women’s soccer coach at Pelion High School.

Coach Chavarria was a player for the South Carolina Olympic Development Program for 5 years, played on Lexington County Soccer Club for 9 years where he won the state championship in ’07 and won the Region III Premier League to compete in the Region and National tournament. Andrew played at Lexington High School for 4 years on the varsity team for Will Gettys where he won the Region Championship in ’07 for the first time in 24 years and was named All-Region for 2 years and All-State for his last year. Coach Chavarria played college soccer at Presbyterian College.

Coach Chavarria began coaching individual players in 2005 where he would have one-on-one sessions with them to increase technical skills. In 2015 Chavarria received his State “E” License and coached a U-11 C team at Liverpool Soccer Club in Lexington where he won the state championship. At Liverpool, he also ran a technical skills session every Wednesday for players age 10-18. During this time he was an assistant coach at his alma mater, Lexington High School with Will Gettys. After he received his first job at Laurens District 55 High School, he volunteered with the varsity soccer team under Denis Balanta. In 2016 Coach Chavarria was offered the head coach position for the Raiders where he built a reputable program.

Coach Chevarria will be heading the orchestra program at Pelion Middle School.
